A former solicitor in the City of London and partner of a law firm in Singapore, Merlene joined the board of PAPRF in 2024. She brings with her not only legal skills, but also those of a Mediator and RJ (restorative justice) practitioner. A former trustee of RHP and ISHA (Registered Social Landlords in the London boroughs of Richmond and Islington respectively) she is familiar with the rules of governance and in DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) in this highly regulated sector. Merlene now divides her time between UK and Singapore, is a Director of England China Business Forum Limited UK, and serves on the Charities committee of the Worshipful Company of World Traders. She was the initiator and co-editor of PAF’s publications on “The Rise of China” and “The Five-Decade Journey of EU-ASEAN Relations.” Merlene is also a British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) qualified teacher.
