Over the past thirty years, I have served as a high-ranking government official, World Bank staff member, and senior consultant, collaborating with prime ministers, ministers, central bank governors, and other prominent officials across Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa. My professional experience encompasses emergency (humanitarian) and development economics, with extensive work in fragile and post-conflict contexts (FCV) as well as high middle-income countries. I have advised on policy areas including donor mobilization and coordination, national development/sectors strategies preparation, economic reform formulation and implementation. My high-level appointments span government agencies, the UN system (UNDP), leading international financial institutions (World Bank Group – WBG), the European Commission (EC), bilateral development agencies (USAID, USDA, DFID/FCDO-UK, NORAD), and reputable international consulting firms (Ecotec/Ecorys, Adam Smith International, Bearing Point/Deloitte, HTSPE/DAI, PKF, Louis Berger, PricewaterhouseCoopers).

Core competencies include strategic planning, economic policy analysis and advice, resource/donor mobilization, capacity building, institution strengthening, working on/in fragile and conflict situations (FCV), post-conflict recovery, social protection and poverty assessment/analysis/reduction, labour market analysis and advise, public finance management, strengthening fiscal sustainability and increasing domestic revenue mobilization, building implementation and monitoring frameworks, donor coordination/aid effectiveness, managing national and subnational consultative process within the government and with civil society, civil society engagement, as well as writing policy documents and publications.

Accomplishments

Key accomplishments include providing advice to the several members of the Board of Directors of the World Bank Group (Executive Directors), Prime Ministers, ministers, and other high-ranking government officials. Supported the preparation of national development and poverty reduction strategies, private sector and social protection strategies, macroeconomic frameworks, poverty assessments/profiles in several undeveloped and developing countries where also worked on capacity and institutions building. Introduction of value added tax (VAT) and social protection transfers. implementation of labour market reforms to enhance job generation and tripartite economic social dialogue between government, trade unions and employers’ associations. Supported organization of the several donors’ pledging conferences and establishment of the donor coordination mechanisms. Developed frameworks and led the consultation with civil society. Authored, co-authored and contributed to publishing of the number of the policy documents and publications for the governments, the World Bank Group, academic/research institutions and think tanks. As the NGO and peace promotion activist led the development of the first report on war crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Save Humanity) which has been presented to the UN and other human rights organizations.
